We primarily select ash wood from Hokkaido, Japan, and the surrounding regions. For a long time, ash wood has been considered one of the best materials for crafting nagadou taiko, second only to zelkova (keyaki) wood. With its beautiful grain and superior quality, ash wood is commonly used in high-end musical instruments and furniture. The hollowed-out solid ash wood body used in crafting nagadou taiko ensures excellent sound quality, making it an ideal material for taiko production.

Wood Grain
Since the wood is naturally grown, each product’s wood grain may differ from the photos. These unique grain variations make each product one of a kind.

Color
Due to differences in lighting during photography and display settings, the actual color of the product may slightly differ from the photos.

Custom Color
If you have specific color requirements, please indicate them in the order notes and email us with your desired color sample. We will respond promptly after receiving your email to confirm if we can meet your request. Please note that custom colors may incur additional charges, which will be detailed in our email response.

Sound
Our taiko drums are tuned to a high pitch when they leave the factory. As they are played more, the sound gradually deepens and gains more complexity.

Weight
Taiko drums are made from natural wood, so even the same product may vary in weight due to the natural differences in the wood.

Image Product Ratio
The image used is of a 1.5Shaku-sized Taiko, and other sizes may have slight variations in proportion.

Special Note

Due to the natural drying process required for hollowed-out taiko drums, which can take 3 to 5 years, and the possibility of fluctuating inventory levels, there may be times when the product is temporarily out of stock. If such a situation arises, we will notify you as soon as possible. We appreciate your understanding!
