What size Shime Daiko should I choose?
Within JINLEI’s standard range, Namitsuke is approximately 35 × 15 cm, 2-Chougake 36 × 18 cm, 3-Chougake 37 × 21 cm and 4-Chougake 38 × 24 cm. Higher grades use matched heads, shells and hardware for greater working tension, pitch and projection. Choose according to the musical role, existing ensemble setup and teacher preference rather than size alone.
What is the difference between Namitsuke, 2-, 3- and 4-Chougake?
Chougake identifies the Shime Daiko grade. It does not refer to the number of ropes, bolts or turnbuckles. Within JINLEI’s standard range, each grade combines a specific head diameter, shell height, head strength, working tension and hardware specification.
Can a Shime Daiko be tuned?
