Yoshiyuki Kimura
Two traditions, one musical voice
Born in Sapporo in 1982, Yoshiyuki Kimura began playing taiko at the age of ten and Tsugaru shamisen at sixteen. He won the Tsugaru Shamisen National Competition in 1999 and 2000, followed by the National Odaiko Competition in 2001.
His work brings together international performance, teaching and the sharing of Japanese musical traditions. Kimura has appeared in cultural programs, concert halls and festivals in Japan, Russia and Germany, while continuing to train the next generation of taiko and shamisen players.

150th anniversary of German–Japanese relations in Hamburg and Bremen, Germany. Cultural inheritance activities with the German–Japanese School Hamburg began in this period.
